Intensive Russian Strikes Eliminate Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has requested "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The strikes follow periods of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and officials were bracing for more assaults.
